HARCO Lab Participated in AIM 2026

Members of HARCO Lab participated in the 2026 IEEE/ASME International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics (AIM 2026), held in Genoa, Italy, from July 7 to 10, 2026.

Prof. Wansoo Kim and Oh Jihwan attended the conference and shared the lab’s recent research in wearable robotics, human-centered collaborative systems, and cable-driven soft exosuits with the international mechatronics and robotics community.

AIM 2026 brought together researchers and engineers working in intelligent mechatronics, advanced robotic systems, wearable devices, and human-robot interaction. The conference provided an opportunity to exchange ideas on emerging technologies and discuss their applications in safe, adaptive, and user-centered robotic systems.


Workshop Invited Talk

■ Human-Centered Collaborative Robots: Towards Safe and Adaptive Interaction

Prof. Wansoo Kim participated as an invited speaker in the workshop titled “1st Workshop on Setup Interfaces for Wearable Robotics: Research Challenges and Industrial Perspectives (SIWeaR 2026).”

His talk, titled “Human-Centered Collaborative Robots: Towards Safe and Adaptive Interaction,” addressed the development of collaborative robotic systems that can safely and adaptively interact with humans.

The presentation introduced human-centered design principles for robotic assistance, emphasizing physical safety, adaptive interaction, and the integration of user-specific characteristics into robot control. It also discussed how collaborative robots and wearable robotic systems can provide reliable and personalized assistance in real-world environments.


SIWeaR 2026 Workshop

The 1st Workshop on Setup Interfaces for Wearable Robotics: Research Challenges and Industrial Perspectives explored emerging technologies and research challenges in wearable robotics.

Recent advances in wearable robotic systems are improving device performance, usability, and user satisfaction while increasing the need for safe and reliable human-robot interaction. The workshop addressed several important topics, including:

  • Human-robot interaction for wearable and assistive devices
  • User experience and usability assessment
  • Safe and adaptive physical assistance
  • Setup and control interfaces for wearable robots
  • Translation of wearable robotics research into industrial applications

The workshop brought together researchers and experts in wearable robotics, human augmentation, assistive technologies, and collaborative robotic systems to discuss future research directions and practical challenges.

■ A Hybrid Bidirectional Pulley Module for Cable-Driven Soft Exosuits

Oh Jihwan presented research titled “A Hybrid Bidirectional Pulley Module for Cable-Driven Soft Exosuits.”

This research introduces a hybrid bidirectional pulley mechanism designed for cable-driven soft exosuits. The proposed module enables bidirectional cable transmission within a compact mechanical structure, supporting wearable robots that require assistance in multiple movement directions.

The study aims to improve the mechanical versatility and transmission efficiency of soft exosuits while maintaining the lightweight and compliant characteristics required for comfortable human assistance.


Through their participation in AIM 2026, HARCO Lab presented its latest research in human-centered robotics, wearable robotic systems, and cable-driven soft exosuits. The conference and workshop provided valuable opportunities to exchange research ideas and strengthen international collaboration in advanced intelligent mechatronics and human-robot interaction.
